New DLC On Its Way For GT5

Hello Gran Turismo fans

Hot on the heels (or should that be wheels) of the recent news on the forthcoming GT5: Academy Edition, I am delighted to announce that there’s even more to look forward to for fans of all things automotive.

On Wednesday 26 September (same day as the launch of GT5: AE) we will be launching three brand new items of DLC for Gran Turismo 5.

Here’s the rundown of what’s on its way to a PS3 near you:

The first DLC on the list adds the SUBARU BRZ S ’12, a compact front engine rear wheel drive (FR) powered by a horizontally opposed engine.

The production model prototype was announced at the Tokyo Motorshow in November 2011 and the car is a sibling to the Toyota 86 that was announced sometime prior. In addition to the different front grill and foglights, the car’s driving feel with its suspension settings that focus more on stability and control reflects the sports car philosophy and heritage of Subaru. In the BRZ you can enjoy and get to grips with an FR layout sportscar; a set-up that’s becoming more and more of a rarity these days.

Next is the Honda Weider HSV-010 (SUPER GT) ’11, a racecar that competed in the GT500 class of Japan’s Super GT series.

The HSV-010 debuted in 2010 as heir to the Honda NSX-GT. The car is a front engine rear wheel drive vehicle powered by a 3.4 litre V8 based on an engine designed for Formula Nippon. The car achieved a team and driver double title-win in its debut year, and this 2011 model utilises side radiators to optimise weight distribution, further improving its cornering performance. Add this high performance Honda Racing machine to your virtual garage.

And finally we have the Nissan GT-R N24 GT Academy ’12, a car that raced in the 2012 Nürburgring 24 hour race. The eagle-eyed (or those with a good memory) will recall that the GT-R N24 is included at no extra cost with the GT5: Academy Edition.

The GT-R N24 GT Academy was developed by the Nissan GT-R development team and set up by software engineers from Polyphony. In the Nürburgring 24 hour race, Team GT Academy – which included Gran Turismo series producer Kazunori Yamauchi and the first European GT Academy winner Lucas Ordonez – took the car to a win in the SP8T class. Relive the victory at the Nürburgring with this car.

These three new vehicles will be available on PlayStation Store from Wednesday 26 September, and each will be available at €0.99/£0.79. Happy motoring everyone!
