В течение крупнейшего японского файтинг-ивента EVO Japan, компания SNK успела сделать несколько любопытных анонсов, в числе которых и переиздание классического файтинга The King of Fighters ’97 с припиской Global Match в названии, что, как-бы тонко намекает на обновлённую онлайн-составляющую проекта.

Ни для кого не секрет, что традиционные части KoF, вроде '97, '98 и 2002 пользуются колоссальной популярностью. По сей день среднее количество активных игроков в сервисе Fightcade насчитывает более 1000 человек. По всей видимости, SNK наконец-то их заметили и решили перевыпустить классику на более широкий спектр платформ. Релиз запланирован на весну этого года для PS4, PS Vita и PC.
