Продюсер серии The Legend of Zelda Эйдзи Аонума в разговоре с IGN отметил, что молодые разработчики, принимающие участие в создании продолжения Breath of the Wild, черпают вдохновение из Red Dead Redemption 2.

«Я слышал, многие играли в Red Dead Redemption 2», - заявил Аонума, отвечая на вопрос о том, в какие проекты играют молодые разработчики The Legend of Zelda и какие игры их вдохновляют.
 
Ещё Эйдзи Аонума отметил, что во время создания Breath of the Wild глава разработчиков проекта Хидемаро Фудзибаяси играл в Skyrim.
 
Аонума в последнее время играет в музыкальный «рогалик» Cadence of Hyrule и занимается ремейком Link's Awakening.
