So, with tomorrow being the unofficial start of summer, what better time to take stock of the first half of 2013 and see how the world’s video game developers have got on?

What I’d like to know this week: what’s been your highlight of the year so far?

As usual, I spent the first few months of 2013 catching up on all the stuff I didn’t get around to playing in 2012. That said, I have managed to squeeze in a few new releases too. My picks? On PS3, I’ll go with Square Enix’s hugely enjoyable re-invention of the Tomb Raider series. And on PS Vita, it’s a toss-up between Guacamelee! and Velocity Ultra – two blissfully addictive blasts of classic gameplay, with stylish 21st-century trimmings.
