Об игре: Так же, как и Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XV, игра берет за основу вселенную Fabula Nova Crystallis. В отличии от других игр этой вселенной, Final Fantasy Type 0 выходит не на PS3, а на PSP.

Действие Final Fantasy Type 0 разворачивается в мире, состоящем из четырех стран: Milites, Rubrum, Anaze и Kogai. Когда Milites вторгается в Rubrum, все четыре страны вступают в войну. Вы сыграете за студентов из Peristerium (магическая школа) в Rebrum'е. Так как вы являетесь членом Class Zero, вы становитесь на защиту от вторжения Milites.

В игре представлено 14 основных персонажей, 12 из которых являются студентами Class Zero, и два специальных персонажа: Rem и Machina. Во время сражений на поле боя может принимать участие лишь три персонажа, между которыми можно переключаться.
