Покупатели Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition получат также Halo Wars: Definitive Edition – переиздание первой части. Переиздание Halo Wars предложит улучшенную графику и все DLC в комплекте. Оно будет доступно на Xbox One и Windows 10. Изначально стратегия в реальном времени Halo Wars вышла на Xbox 360 в 2009 году. Разрабатывала Halo Wars уже несуществующая компания Ensemble Studios (серия Age of Empires).

Пока компания Microsoft не уточнила, можно ли будет купить Halo Wars: Definitive Edition отдельно. Релиз Halo Wars 2 ожидается на Windows 10 и Xbox One 21 февраля 2017 года. До 20 июня пользователи Xbox One могут приобщиться к открытой мультиплеерной бета-версии Halo Wars 2.
